Can I install a operating system into another partition or drive using MSTBOOT?
Yes, no problem. To install into another drive (e.g. "D:\"):
- Reboot your computer from the diskette created with SETUP.EXE.
- Start the boot manager MSTBOOT.EXE
- Prepare the boot manager for the operating system to be added.(Alt+B, P)
Always prepare the active boot partition ("C:"), even if you want to install
into another partition ("D:).
- Dismiss the boot manager with Alt+X.
- Install the operating system according to the instructions and make
sure that the installation process is fully completed, note that this might
also require a new start of the system
During the installation you can select any directory for install into (e.g.:
"D:\WIN98")
- Now boot the system from the MSTBOOT diskette
- Start the boot manager a second time, MSTBOOT.EXE.
- The Wizard asks now for all necessary information to define the new operating
system in the boot manager.
- Dismiss the boot manager with Alt+X.
The boot manager can now handle the new operating system.
