Starting from version 4.2 also a second, simpler version of the boot manager
is available. The Easy Boot Manager enables the selection of the active
partition over a menu during the system start. Depending upon number of
primary partitions defined on the first hard disk you can install and start
in such a way up to four operating systems on your computer.
Contrary to MSTBOOT the Easy Boot Manager does not need FAT12/16/32 partition
but installs itself in the master boot record and the following sectors. Thus
it is applicable for any file systems.
The following table shows the differences significant:
|
MSTBOOT |
EASYBM |
| Installs into: |
Partition Boot Sector |
Master Boot Sector |
| Max. number of OS: |
12 |
4 |
| File system: |
FAT12, FAT16, FAT32 |
any |
For the installation of the Easy-Boot-Manager you proceed as follows:
- Boot your computer of the boot managers diskette.
- Start the boot manager EASYBM.EXE.
- Input the names, under which the systems of the appropriate partitions
in the boot menu are to be offered to you. They can assign thereby only
for the defined primary partitions names.
- Finish the function. If you install EASYBM the first time, automatically
the MBR becomes secured. They can re-establish so the original MBR.
If you defined a further partition on your computer, you can start this program again,
in order to extend the entries in the boot menu.
NOTE: If you use a disk manager (like EZDrive, OnTrack), you should not install ESAYBM.
